Your privacy and security is of the highest concern to us at Snip. To ensure the confidentiality of your information, we have made Snip fully SSL-aware.
What is SSL?
Without excessive technical jargon, SSL is a method designed by Netscape
to transmit encrypted information over the Internet. It ensures that information remains private and arrives without error. There are different versions. Snip uses the one with a 256-bit key. This version is the industry standard; even banks and other financial institutions use it to transfer data across the Internet.
What is an SSL Certificate?
An SSL Certificate is a file which ensures that a website or computer and the people behind are who they say they are and that they are reputable. This file is issued by a company called the Certificate Authority which guarantees that it has checked the site or people and deems them trustworthy. When your web browser verifies a certificate, you can be sure that you are connected to the right website or computer and have not been tricked. In most
browsers you can verify a certificate simply by double clicking on a
()
padlock icon in the status bar. Snip's SSL Certificate was issued by
Let's Encrypt.
How does Snip use SSL?
Snip uses SSL in two ways.
1. For communications between the user and Snip web pages.
You can use SSL while browsing Snip at
https://www.snip.pl/en/.
You will need to use a 256-bit SSL key-enabled web browser. Most modern
browsers fit this requirement.
2. For communications between Snip server and auction services' servers
You can set Snip to use SSL protocol while signing you in onto the auction service. For your convenience, all the login information you
register with Snip is transmitted to auction servers in encrypted form.
