Your privacy and security is of the highest concern to us at Snip. To ensure the confidentiality of your information, we have made Snip fully SSL-aware.
What is SSL?
Without excessive technical jargon, SSL is a method designed by Netscape
to transmit encrypted information over the Internet. It ensures that information remains private and arrives without error. There are different versions. Snip uses the one with a 256-bit key. This version is the industry standard; even banks and other financial institutions use it to transfer data across the Internet.
What is an SSL Certificate?
An SSL Certificate is a file which ensures that a website or computer and the people behind are who they say they are and that they are reputable. This file is issued by a company called the Certificate Authority which guarantees that it has checked the site or people and deems them trustworthy. When your web browser verifies a certificate, you can be sure that you are connected to the right website or computer and have not been tricked. In most
browsers you can verify a certificate simply by double clicking on a
()
padlock icon in the status bar. Snip's SSL Certificate is issued by
Let's Encrypt.
How does Snip use SSL?
All and all communication between Snip and the auction service is encrypted.
